How does a hair mask work?
The purpose of the mask is to moisturize and nourish the hair. When choosing a cosmetic, it is worth paying attention to its use and composition. Products with ingredients that not only regenerate and strengthen hair, but also stimulate its growth, limit sebum secretion and protect against drying out are particularly noteworthy. A good hair mask can significantly improve its condition and reverse the damage caused by intensive styling or treatments in hair salons.
What hair types can the mask be used on?
Masks are cosmetics that are suitable for all hair types. Before buying, however, it is worth checking the manufacturer's recommendations to best match the mask to your own strands. If you have damaged hair, reach for a nourishing and regenerating product. A nourishing hair mask is most often recommended for people whose strands have been damaged by dyeing, bleaching or styling using high temperatures (e.g. blow-drying and straightening).
Some masks are matched to the porosity of the hair, i.e. the degree to which the scales are lifted from the cortex. We distinguish hair:
- Low porosity– they are characterized by closed scales, resistant to damage (but also resistant to styling), straight, slippery and shiny.
- Medium porous– combine the features of low and high porosity hair. This category includes, among others, locks that have lost their low porosity due to intensive treatments. This often includes wavy hair.
- Highly porous– such strands are dry, damaged, frizzy and take a long time to dry. This group often includes curly hair and hair that is subjected to intensive treatments. Such strands need nourishment and hydration, which will be provided by the appropriatemask for high porosity hair.
