What are broken capillaries on the face?

Broken capillaries (telangiectasia) are dilated or ruptured capillaries that show through the skin as red or purple threads. They appear most often on the cheeks, nose and chin.

Where do broken capillaries come from?

Too much UV radiation, temperature changes, alcohol, genetics, rosacea and age. The vessels lose their elasticity and no longer contract.

How do you care for skin with broken capillaries?

Cosmetics with rutin, vitamin K, niacinamide and ceramides. Gentle cleansing without SLS. SPF 50+ is a must – UV radiation damages the vessel walls.

Which procedures are available for broken capillaries?

The vascular laser is the most effective method. Electrocoagulation closes the vessels with an electric current. IPL reduces redness and capillaries over larger areas. Which method suits you is something to discuss with your dermatologist.
