What is glycolic acid?

Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from sugar cane. It has the smallest molecules of all AHA acids and therefore penetrates the skin most deeply.

How does glycolic acid work?

It loosens the bonds between dead skin cells and makes it easier for them to shed. It stimulates collagen production, smooths wrinkles and brightens dark spots.

How do you use glycolic acid?

Start with a low concentration (5–7%) once a week in the evening. Increase the frequency gradually. The next morning, always apply SPF 50+ – the acid makes your skin sensitive to light.

Who should avoid glycolic acid?

Avoid it if you have sensitive skin, couperose or eczema. Don't combine it with retinol or vitamin C on the same evening.
