What is hyperpigmentation on the face?

Hyperpigmentation shows up as darker patches caused by a local buildup of melanin. It can be sun-induced, hormonal (melasma) or the result of inflammation (after acne and injuries).

How does hyperpigmentation develop?

UV radiation stimulates melanocytes to overproduce melanin. Hormones (estrogen, progesterone) intensify this process. Inflammation activates melanocytes at the injured spot.

How do you fade hyperpigmentation?

Vitamin C and niacinamide inhibit tyrosinase. Retinol speeds up the shedding of the discolored upper skin layer. Azelaic acid works on both mechanisms. SPF 50+ is the foundation – without it, no skincare brings lasting results.

What procedures are there for hyperpigmentation?

Chemical peels, laser, IPL and mesotherapy performed by a dermatologist bring faster results. After any procedure you need intensive sun protection.
