What is sodium lactate?

Sodium lactate is the salt of lactic acid and occurs naturally in the skin as part of the NMF (natural moisturizing factor). It keeps the moisture of the epidermis in balance.

How does sodium lactate work?

It binds water in the epidermis, regulates the skin's pH to 5–6 and gently loosens dead skin cells. It strengthens the natural moisturizing factor and so improves the elasticity and smoothness of the skin.

Where is sodium lactate used?

In creams, toners and hydrating serums. Often combined with urea, glycerin and hyaluronic acid for intensive hydration.

Who is sodium lactate for?

Safe for all skin types. Especially recommended for dry, dehydrated skin and a disrupted pH.
